ROOM 01 / FOREX
Price moves in pips.
Make the money clear.
Learn how EUR/USD price changes, lot sizes and costs connect. Explore the lessons, then test the calculation with your own hypothetical inputs.
Three calculations to understand.
EUR/USD · USD ACCOUNTFind the pip movement.
For a Buy: (exit − entry) ÷ 0.0001. For a Sell: (entry − exit) ÷ 0.0001.
Connect pips to position size.
Pip value = lots × 100,000 units × 0.0001 USD. A 0.10 lot EUR/USD position has a $1 pip value.
Account for the actual costs.
Subtract total commission, then add financing credits or subtract charges. Actual fill prices already reflect the spread.
Lot conventions: OANDA. Examples assume a standard 100,000-unit lot and a USD account.

BEFORE AND AFTER A TRADE
Questions worth recording.
Before entry
- What is the reason for this trade?
- What would invalidate the idea?
- How much am I planning to risk?
- Does the position size match that plan?
After closing
- What were my actual entry and exit fills?
- Have I included both sides of the commission?
- Did I follow the recorded plan?
- What will I repeat or change next time?
